Magic “Milk”Shake

Now that I’m really back in my groove with my workouts, and seeing some progress again, I am trying hard to keep on top of my nutrition so that things continue to go in a positive direction. I struggle with post-workout protein shakes, though. They’re great for convenience and concentrated protein, but sometimes they just do not appetite me no matter which powder I have on hand at the moment – or sometimes I just want to make my protein snack into more of a post-workout meal.
The answer to this particular problem comes in the form of the same humble frozen bananas that I like to turn into almost-better-than-the-real-thing soft serve. I’ll break one up into 4 or 5 pieces, add it to my big plastic cup with a scoop of protein and a cup of almond milk, blend, and that’s it – creamy, thick milkshake heaven. As a bonus, the banana calms down the sometimes aggressive flavors you get in protein powders. It really does make things mellow, sweet, and ice-cream-y. Yum! Bonus points if you add powdered peanut butter.

  1. I feel the same way! It’s so hard to drink these sometimes, even if they taste decent. I love PB2 & Cellucor’s whey, though. Awesome post!!
